Roles & Responsibilities

The Junior Cable Tray and Tubing Installer – Sensor Wiring assists with the installation of cable trays, electrical conduits, and stainless steel or plastic tubing used for sensor wiring and signal transmission in industrial or laboratory environments. This role supports structured cabling, routing, and labeling of sensor connections under supervision, ensuring neat, compliant, and reliable installations.


Key Focus Areas:

  1. Cable Tray Installation

    • Assist in mounting and aligning cable trays for routing sensor cables in labs, cleanrooms, or production areas.

    • Use appropriate fasteners and support structures per installation standards.

  2. Tubing Layout and Mounting

    • Support installation of stainless steel or flexible tubing for sensor signal lines, especially in hygienic environments.

    • Learn proper techniques for bending, securing, and terminating tubing.

  3. Sensor Cable Routing

    • Route sensor cables (RTDs, thermocouples, pressure transmitters, etc.) from field instruments to junction boxes or control panels.

    • Maintain proper separation of power and signal lines to avoid interference.

  4. Wiring and Termination Support

    • Assist in stripping, labeling, and crimping cables for termination in control panels or transmitters.

    • Follow color-coding and identification guidelines.

  5. Drawing Interpretation

    • Learn to read basic instrumentation layout drawings, wiring diagrams, and P&IDs to support correct installation.

    • Assist in marking cable paths and tubing runs based on installation drawings.

  6. Tool Usage and Safety

    • Proper use of hand tools (cable cutters, screwdrivers, tubing benders) and basic power tools under supervision.

    • Follow site safety procedures, including working at heights and confined spaces if required.

  7. Cleanroom Compliance (if applicable)

    • Maintain cleanliness and follow gowning procedures in sterile or clean environments.

    • Use appropriate materials (e.g., SS316 tubing, cleanroom-rated cables) where required.

  8. Labeling and Documentation

    • Assist in labeling cables and tubing accurately as per tag numbers or instrument IDs.

    • Update cable schedules and assist with field verification.

  9. Support for Commissioning Team

    • Provide basic support during loop checks and continuity testing by ensuring proper cable connections and tagging.

  10. Learning and Development

  • Participate in technical training related to sensor wiring, tubing standards (ASTM, ISO), and industrial communication (4–20 mA, HART, etc.).


Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • ITI / Diploma in Electrical, Instrumentation, or related trade.

  • Experience:

    • 0–2 years; freshers with basic knowledge of electrical installations welcome.

  • Skills Required:

    • Familiarity with basic electrical tools and hardware.

    • Physically fit for site work and working at heights.

    • Eagerness to learn industrial installation standards.
