The Mid-Level Cable Tray and Sensor Conduit Installer is responsible for independently executing the installation of cable tray systems and conduit pathways for instrumentation and control (I&C) cabling. The role ensures high-quality, standards-compliant work in industrial or commercial environments, with a focus on efficiency, safety, and technical accuracy.
Cable Tray System Installation:
Install, align, and support various types of cable tray systems (ladder, perforated, wire mesh) per engineering drawings and specifications.
Sensor Conduit Installation:
Install rigid, EMT, flexible, and PVC conduits for sensor and control cables; ensure adherence to layout plans and cable segregation rules.
Drawing Interpretation:
Read and interpret installation drawings, cable routing plans, and instrumentation layouts with minimal supervision.
Bending and Routing:
Use manual and powered tools to cut, bend, and route conduit; ensure clean bends and correct conduit sizes for sensor cable runs.
Mounting and Support Fabrication:
Fabricate and install supports, brackets, and fasteners to secure cable trays and conduits as required.
Junction Box Mounting and Sensor Entry:
Install sensor junction boxes and prepare conduit entries, ensuring correct spacing, sealing, and cable entry protection.
Safety Compliance:
Adhere to electrical codes (e.g., NEC, IEC) and site-specific HSE policies; participate in toolbox talks and use PPE correctly.
Supervision and Mentoring:
Guide junior installers or helpers on correct practices and safe handling of tools and materials.
Work Coordination:
Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation teams to avoid clashes and ensure smooth progress of cable routing activities.
Instrumentation Cable Pathways:
Ensure correct segregation between low-voltage, control, signal, and power cabling in tray and conduit systems.
Standards-Based Installation:
Comply with standards such as NEC, IEC, and project specifications for cable separation, bending radius, fill capacity, and mechanical protection.
Sensor Conduit Routing for I&C Devices:
Plan and install conduits to field instruments (e.g., pressure, temperature, flow sensors) ensuring accessibility and maintainability.
Grounding and Bonding:
Install grounding conductors and bonding for metallic trays and conduits to maintain system safety and performance.
Site Problem-Solving:
Identify on-site challenges like obstructions or mismatched materials and propose practical solutions to supervisors or engineers.
ITI, Diploma, or equivalent in Electrical or Instrumentation Technology.
2–5 years of relevant field experience in cable tray and conduit installation, especially in industrial environments.
Proficient with tools such as pipe benders, hacksaws, power drills, and threading machines.
Working knowledge of P&IDs, cable schedules, and tray/conduit layouts.
Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in outdoor or plant conditions.
