We are looking for a Senior Additive Manufacturing Engineer to lead the advancement and integration of additive manufacturing technologies for aerospace components. This role involves strategic leadership in process innovation, qualification, and scale-up of additive manufacturing operations while ensuring the highest standards of aerospace quality and compliance. The senior engineer will mentor teams, drive technical excellence, and collaborate across functions to deliver cutting-edge aerospace solutions.
Strategic Process Development & Innovation:
Lead the research, development, and implementation of state-of-the-art additive manufacturing processes (SLM, DMLS, EBM, etc.) for complex aerospace components, driving innovation and efficiency.
Qualification & Certification Management:
Oversee comprehensive component qualification and certification activities, ensuring compliance with aerospace industry standards including AS9100, NADCAP, and FAA requirements.
Advanced Material & Process Characterization:
Direct advanced testing, microstructural analysis, and failure investigations to optimize material properties and manufacturing processes for superior part performance.
Quality Systems Leadership:
Develop and enforce rigorous quality control protocols and process documentation. Lead root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and continuous improvement initiatives across additive manufacturing operations.
Cross-Functional Leadership & Mentorship:
Guide and mentor junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation. Collaborate with R&D, design, production, and supply chain teams to align additive manufacturing with business goals.
Project & Stakeholder Management:
Manage multiple high-impact projects, timelines, and resources while communicating effectively with stakeholders at all levels, including senior management and external partners.
Lead the scale-up and industrialization of additive manufacturing processes for aerospace components.
Develop robust process control strategies and ensure reproducibility across production batches.
Drive supplier development and qualification for additive manufacturing materials and services.
Conduct complex failure analyses and implement design and process improvements.
Champion continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
Represent the company in industry forums, technology partnerships, and regulatory bodies.
Prepare and review technical reports, presentations, and proposals for internal and external audiences.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline.
7+ years of extensive experience in additive manufacturing within aerospace or highly regulated industries.
Deep expertise in additive manufacturing technologies (SLM, DMLS, EBM, Binder Jetting, etc.) and aerospace materials.
Proven track record of leading process development, qualification, and scale-up in a production environment.
Strong knowledge of aerospace standards (AS9100, NADCAP, FAA) and regulatory requirements.
Excellent leadership, project management, and communication skills.
Experience with CAD, CAE, and Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) tools.
Demonstrated ability to mentor engineering teams and drive cross-functional collaboration.
