We are seeking an experienced Mid-Level Additive Manufacturing Engineer to play a pivotal role in advancing additive manufacturing technologies for aerospace components. The ideal candidate will lead process development, optimization, and validation efforts while ensuring compliance with aerospace industry standards. This role requires strong technical expertise combined with project management capabilities to drive innovation and efficiency in manufacturing aerospace parts.
Process Development & Optimization:
Lead the design, development, and optimization of additive manufacturing processes (e.g., SLM, DMLS, EBM) for critical aerospace materials and components, focusing on improving productivity, part quality, and repeatability.
Component Qualification & Validation:
Manage validation and qualification activities for additive manufactured aerospace components, ensuring compliance with mechanical, thermal, and regulatory requirements.
Material Science & Testing:
Oversee advanced material characterization, mechanical testing, and microstructural analysis to optimize material properties and ensure component reliability.
Quality Management & Compliance:
Ensure all additive manufacturing processes comply with aerospace industry standards such as AS9100 and NADCAP. Lead root cause investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Leadership:
Work closely with design engineering, production, quality assurance, and supply chain teams to integrate additive manufacturing into production workflows. Mentor junior engineers and support project management activities.
Develop and implement advanced additive manufacturing processes tailored for aerospace-grade alloys.
Lead troubleshooting and failure analysis for complex manufacturing issues.
Coordinate and execute component testing, inspection, and non-destructive evaluation (NDE).
Manage technical documentation, process controls, and quality records.
Support supplier qualification and vendor development related to additive manufacturing.
Contribute to R&D projects and stay abreast of emerging AM technologies.
Train and mentor junior engineering staff on AM best practices and standards.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
3-5 years of hands-on experience in additive manufacturing, preferably within the aerospace industry.
Strong knowledge of additive manufacturing techniques such as SLM, DMLS, EBM, and related post-processing methods.
Proficient in CAD and simulation software, with experience in Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM).
Familiarity with aerospace quality standards and certification processes (AS9100, NADCAP).
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Proven ability to lead projects and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
