We are seeking an experienced and strategic Senior CNC Machining Supervisor to lead our CNC machining operations with a focus on production efficiency, quality, safety, and team leadership. This role is responsible for managing multiple shifts or a large team of machinists and operators, optimizing processes, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the machining department. The ideal candidate possesses deep technical knowledge of CNC operations and a strong leadership background in high-precision manufacturing environments.
Lead, mentor, and manage CNC machinists, leads, and operators across multiple shifts.
Develop high-performing teams through coaching, training, and performance reviews.
Ensure daily machining schedules are met with maximum efficiency and minimal downtime.
Coordinate with planning, engineering, and quality departments to ensure operational alignment.
Identify inefficiencies and drive improvements in cycle times, setups, tool utilization, and material handling.
Champion lean manufacturing, 5S, and Kaizen initiatives to increase productivity and reduce waste.
Provide expert guidance on advanced setups, multi-axis operations, and complex part production.
Troubleshoot machining problems and work with programmers and engineers on optimized tool paths and fixtures.
Enforce quality standards and ensure compliance with internal and customer requirements.
Work with quality engineers to resolve non-conformances and drive corrective actions.
Maintain a culture of safety by enforcing proper machine guarding, PPE use, and ergonomic practices.
Ensure equipment is properly maintained and escalate major issues to maintenance or engineering teams.
Supervise all CNC machining operations across one or more production areas or shifts.
Review blueprints, job orders, and programs to ensure proper execution of machining jobs.
Track and report KPIs, including OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), scrap/rework rates, and labor efficiency.
Oversee tooling inventory, setup documentation, and standard operating procedures.
Support the launch of new jobs/products by coordinating with engineering and quality teams.
Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and operational policies.
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
8–10+ years of experience in CNC machining, with 3–5 years in a supervisory or team lead role.
Advanced knowledge of CNC equipment and controls (e.g., Fanuc, Haas, Siemens, Mazak).
Strong understanding of machining tolerances, GD&T, tool selection, and process sequencing.
Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage diverse teams and shifts.
Experience in aerospace, automotive, medical device, or defense machining environments.
Working knowledge of CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, NX).
Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar quality systems.
ERP/MES system experience for job tracking and resource planning.
Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher) is a plus.
