We are looking for a highly skilled and results-driven CNC Machining Manager to lead our CNC machining operations. This role is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all CNC activities to ensure production efficiency, product quality, and employee safety. The CNC Machining Manager will oversee machining personnel, ensure machine readiness, drive continuous improvement, and support cross-functional collaboration across departments.
Oversee daily operations of CNC machining including milling, turning, drilling, and multi-axis machining.
Ensure adherence to production schedules, technical specifications, and quality standards.
Manage and mentor a team of CNC programmers, machinists, and operators.
Drive accountability, training, and continuous skills development across the team.
Identify and implement process improvements to reduce cycle times, minimize scrap, and increase productivity.
Utilize Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Six Sigma practices to optimize workflow.
Ensure all CNC machines (lathes, mills, multi-axis centers) are properly maintained and calibrated.
Coordinate with maintenance to minimize downtime and schedule preventive maintenance.
Monitor in-process inspections and final part checks for accuracy, tolerance, and surface finish.
Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, AS9100, or customer-specific standards where applicable.
Provide oversight and guidance in G-code, CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, Siemens NX), and toolpath strategies.
Collaborate with engineering on fixture design, tooling selection, and manufacturability reviews.
Lead the CNC team in executing high-precision, high-volume machining projects.
Track KPIs including machine uptime, cycle time, scrap rate, and first-pass yield.
Review and approve work orders, job travelers, setup sheets, and machining documentation.
Work with scheduling and planning teams to align resources with production needs.
Conduct root cause analysis for machining defects or downtime and implement corrective actions.
Maintain a safe and organized machine shop environment in line with OSHA standards.
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or related field.
7–10+ years of experience in CNC machining, with 3–5+ years in a supervisory or managerial role.
Deep knowledge of CNC machining centers (3-, 4-, and 5-axis), cutting tools, workholding, and metrology.
Experience with CAD/CAM platforms and interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T, and tolerances.
Strong understanding of machining best practices, materials (steel, aluminum, titanium, etc.), and heat treatments.
Certifications in CNC programming or Lean Six Sigma.
Experience in aerospace, automotive, medical devices, or defense manufacturing.
Familiarity with ERP/MES systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, JobBOSS).
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
