The Mid-Level CIP System Operator is responsible for independently operating, monitoring, and troubleshooting Clean-in-Place (CIP) systems to ensure effective and compliant cleaning of process equipment, tanks, and piping. This role ensures sanitation cycles meet regulatory standards, oversees chemical concentrations, and coordinates with production and quality teams to maintain hygiene and equipment readiness.
Operate and monitor automated CIP systems, selecting appropriate cleaning programs for various production lines and equipment.
Verify cycle parameters (time, temperature, flow, and chemical concentration) to ensure compliance with sanitation protocols.
Perform changeovers and set-up of CIP circuits for different equipment and product lines.
Conduct chemical titrations, pH testing, and ATP swabbing (where applicable) to verify cleaning effectiveness.
Identify and troubleshoot issues with pumps, valves, sensors, or control panels during CIP cycles.
Work with maintenance or engineering teams to correct mechanical or automation issues impacting sanitation.
Maintain accurate records of cleaning cycles, test results, chemical usage, and deviations.
Ensure all cleaning activities comply with GMP, HACCP, FSMA, and company sanitation procedures.
Support internal and external sanitation audits and participate in corrective action implementation.
Follow chemical handling protocols, PPE requirements, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
Collaborate with production, quality, and maintenance teams to schedule and execute cleaning operations efficiently.
Assist in training junior CIP operators and sanitation staff.
Autonomous operation and monitoring of CIP systems
Sanitation effectiveness and chemical validation
Troubleshooting of CIP-related equipment and system faults
GMP and HACCP compliance in cleaning operations
