The Senior CFD Engineer – HVAC Airflow & Ducting is a technical expert responsible for leading complex computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations to design and optimize HVAC airflow and ducting systems for automotive applications. This role drives innovation in airflow performance, pressure loss reduction, thermal management, and noise control by developing advanced simulation models and methodologies. The senior engineer collaborates closely with vehicle integration, HVAC design, and testing teams to ensure robust system performance, mentors junior staff, and contributes to strategic engineering decisions within thermal system development.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead advanced CFD simulation projects focusing on airflow, pressure loss, thermal distribution, and acoustic performance in HVAC ducting systems.
Develop and validate complex CFD models, including transient and multiphase simulations, to address challenging thermal and airflow phenomena.
Collaborate cross-functionally with HVAC design, vehicle integration, and testing teams to integrate CFD insights into product development and validation processes.
Drive improvements in CFD methodologies, tools, and automation to enhance simulation accuracy and efficiency.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and mid-level CFD engineers, fostering best practices and continuous learning.
Present findings and recommendations to engineering leadership and contribute to project planning and strategy.
Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis for airflow and thermal system performance issues based on CFD data.

Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field required
Experience:
7+ years of experience in CFD engineering, with significant exposure to HVAC airflow and ducting applications in automotive or related industries
Demonstrated ability to lead complex CFD projects and provide technical leadership
Technical Skills:
Expert proficiency with CFD software such as ANSYS Fluent, STAR-CCM+, or equivalent
Deep understanding of fluid dynamics, heat transfer, acoustics, and HVAC system design
Experience with advanced CFD techniques including transient simulations, multiphase flow, and turbulence modeling
Skilled in correlating CFD results with experimental and test data
