We are seeking a technically strong and self-driven Mid-Level BAS Engineer – HVAC Controls to lead the design, programming, and implementation of building automation systems in commercial, industrial, or institutional facilities. The ideal candidate has in-depth knowledge of HVAC control systems, automation protocols, and field device integration, with hands-on experience commissioning and troubleshooting BAS in live environments.
This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of challenging projects focused on energy efficiency, occupant comfort, and smart building performance.
Design and configure control systems for HVAC equipment including AHUs, VAVs, chillers, boilers, pumps, and exhaust systems.
Develop and program control logic, graphics, alarms, and trend logs using major BAS platforms (e.g., Tridium Niagara, Siemens Desigo, Johnson Controls Metasys, Honeywell, Schneider Electric).
Review project documents, mechanical/electrical drawings, and submittals to ensure accurate system integration.
Lead and execute commissioning and startup activities, including functional testing, point-to-point checks, and tuning control loops.
Troubleshoot BAS and HVAC performance issues and implement timely resolutions.
Configure communications protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, or LonWorks for integration with other systems.
Coordinate with project managers, field technicians, contractors, and clients to ensure smooth project execution.
Document sequences of operation (SOO), system architecture, as-built drawings, and O&M manuals.
Provide technical support and training to end users and facility staff after system turnover.
System Design & Implementation
Translate HVAC designs and customer requirements into fully functional BAS solutions.
Programming & Controls Logic
Write, edit, and test control sequences and develop intuitive user interfaces (graphics dashboards).
Commissioning & Troubleshooting
Execute startup and validation protocols for new and retrofit BAS installations.
System Integration
Integrate BAS with third-party systems (lighting, energy meters, fire alarm, security) using standard protocols.
Customer Interface & Project Coordination
Communicate with stakeholders and support system training, documentation, and warranty services.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Controls Engineering (or equivalent technical field).
3–6 years of experience in BAS engineering, programming, and commissioning.
Strong working knowledge of HVAC systems and control strategies.
Proficiency in one or more BAS platforms (Niagara 4 preferred).
Familiarity with control wiring, sensor/actuator configuration, and panel layouts.
Understanding of control protocols (BACnet, Modbus, etc.).
Excellent diagnostic, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
