The Senior Boost System Controls Engineer leads the design, development, and optimization of advanced control strategies for turbocharging and boost systems within automotive powertrains. This role drives technical leadership in control algorithm innovation, calibration strategy, and system integration, ensuring superior performance, emissions compliance, and reliability. The senior engineer mentors junior staff and collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and OEM partners to deliver cutting-edge boost control solutions.
Lead the development and refinement of sophisticated boost control algorithms, including variable geometry turbochargers, wastegate control, electric boosting, and exhaust energy recovery systems.
Define calibration methodologies and oversee system-level validation through hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), engine dynamometer, and vehicle testing.
Troubleshoot complex control system issues and drive root cause analysis with cross-disciplinary teams.
Collaborate with software, mechanical, calibration, and system integration teams to ensure seamless functionality and performance.
Guide and mentor junior and mid-level engineers in control strategy development and best practices.
Manage interactions with suppliers and OEM partners to align controls requirements and support product launches.
Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to innovate boost control approaches.

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Automotive Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred)
7+ years in automotive powertrain controls, with extensive experience in boost system controls
Proven leadership in control algorithm development and project ownership
Expertise with MATLAB/Simulink and model-based design for control systems
Deep knowledge of turbocharger hardware, boost system components, and ECU calibration
Experience with HIL testing, engine/vehicle calibration, and diagnostic tools
Familiarity with automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN) and real-time control software
Strong technical leadership and mentoring abilities
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Ability to influence and drive cross-team collaboration
