The Senior Boiler Technician plays a critical leadership role in managing the operation, maintenance, and performance optimization of boiler systems serving a water treatment facility. The technician ensures compliance with safety regulations, leads troubleshooting and repair efforts, and mentors junior technicians. The role is central to maintaining uninterrupted plant operations, improving energy efficiency, and enforcing boiler system reliability and compliance.
Lead the operation, inspection, and maintenance of high- and low-pressure boilers, associated piping, pumps, and controls.
Oversee boiler water testing and chemical treatment to maintain system integrity and efficiency.
Diagnose and resolve complex issues related to combustion, steam distribution, fuel systems, and boiler control instrumentation.
Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance schedules for all boiler room equipment.
Review and log operational parameters such as pressures, temperatures, flow rates, and chemical usage; identify performance trends.
Ensure compliance with ASME, NBIC, and state/local codes related to boiler operation and maintenance.
Coordinate with engineering and operations teams during equipment upgrades, overhauls, and shutdowns.
Train, guide, and supervise junior boiler operators and technicians.
Maintain inventory of spare parts, tools, and consumables required for boiler operations.
Support energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives related to steam and thermal systems.
Leadership & Supervision
Guide junior team members and enforce safety and operational best practices.
Advanced Troubleshooting
Diagnose system failures and inefficiencies using mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation knowledge.
Compliance & Documentation
Ensure all activities adhere to boiler codes (ASME, NBIC), permit requirements, and standard operating procedures.
System Optimization
Enhance boiler performance to reduce energy consumption and operational costs.
Operational Continuity
Ensure steam reliability to critical water treatment processes through proactive monitoring and response planning.
