The Boiler Plant Supervisor (Mid-Level) is responsible for managing the daily operation, maintenance, and personnel of the boiler plant to ensure the reliable, safe, and efficient generation of steam and/or hot water. This role includes supervising boiler operators, coordinating planned maintenance, enforcing safety and compliance standards, and optimizing system performance for production or building operations.
Supervise and participate in the daily operation of high- and low-pressure steam and hot water boiler systems, including feedwater systems, combustion controls, fuel systems, and pressure relief devices.
Monitor system performance via control systems (e.g., SCADA or BMS) and field inspections.
Ensure proper startup, operation, and shutdown procedures are followed during all shifts.
Schedule and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance activities for boilers and auxiliary equipment.
Coordinate with maintenance teams and contractors for planned shutdowns, inspections, and repairs.
Maintain boiler logs, maintenance records, and equipment service documentation.
Lead a team of boiler operators and plant technicians, assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and ensuring shift coverage.
Train personnel on standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety practices, and emergency response.
Evaluate staff performance and provide input on hiring, training, and development.
Ensure full compliance with OSHA, NFPA, EPA, ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, and state/local boiler regulations.
Conduct routine plant inspections to identify and mitigate safety hazards or non-conformances.
Prepare for and support regulatory inspections, including annual boiler certifications and emissions testing.
Analyze operating data to identify opportunities for improving plant efficiency, fuel consumption, and system reliability.
Implement energy conservation initiatives and support sustainability efforts.
Troubleshoot abnormal conditions and resolve process interruptions quickly.
Respond to system alarms, boiler failures, or safety incidents in coordination with the engineering and EHS teams.
Serve as the on-call supervisor for urgent situations outside of regular hours (as needed).
