The Senior Boiler Codes and Standards Compliance Engineer is the organization’s lead expert on boiler and pressure system regulatory compliance. This role ensures that all boiler, pressure vessel, and piping systems strictly adhere to applicable ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes (BPVC), National Board Inspection Code (NBIC), and local jurisdictional standards.
The senior engineer is responsible for directing the strategic application of code requirements in design, fabrication, operation, inspection, and repair of pressure-retaining equipment. This role involves leadership in audit preparation, failure investigations, compliance planning, and engineering governance, and serves as the primary point of contact with regulatory authorities and authorized inspectors (AI).
Serve as the organization’s subject matter expert (SME) on ASME Sections I, IV, VIII, IX and NBIC Parts 1–3.
Develop and maintain internal standards and procedures aligned with ASME and NBIC updates.
Review and approve pressure system design packages, calculations, welding procedures, and material selections for all new and modified equipment.
Certify compliance of pressure-retaining components, piping systems, and auxiliary systems.
Direct and oversee all interactions with Authorized Inspectors (AI) and jurisdictional authorities.
Ensure completion of Form U-1, P-1, R-1, and all required documentation for code stamping and registration.
Approve all repair, rerating, and alteration activities involving ASME- or NBIC-stamped equipment.
Lead technical evaluations, root cause analysis (RCA), and post-repair reviews for pressure boundary incidents or non-conformances.
Oversee readiness for internal, state, and national board audits related to boilers and pressure systems.
Ensure compliance records are complete, traceable, and compliant with retention policies.
Partner with design, operations, reliability, QA/QC, and safety teams to embed compliance in all phases of the equipment lifecycle.
Support capital project planning with risk and compliance insights.
Train engineers, technicians, and plant personnel on pressure system codes, inspection standards, and compliance best practices.
Serve as mentor to mid-level and junior compliance engineers.
