Job Summary:

The Biomedical Equipment Technician is responsible for installing, inspecting, maintaining, calibrating, troubleshooting, and repairing biomedical and medical diagnostic equipment used in hospitals, clinics, laboratories, and healthcare facilities. The role ensures medical equipment operates safely, accurately, and in compliance with healthcare quality and safety standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Install, test, maintain, and repair biomedical and diagnostic equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and calibration of medical devices and healthcare systems.
  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and perform corrective repairs.
  • Ensure all biomedical equipment complies with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain maintenance schedules, service reports, and equipment documentation.
  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers for advanced repairs and technical support.
  • Inspect newly delivered equipment and support commissioning activities.
  • Train healthcare staff on proper operation and handling of medical equipment.
  • Monitor equipment performance and minimize downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, infection control, CAP, JCI, ISO, and healthcare regulations.
  • Manage spare parts inventory and maintenance tools.
  • Support emergency maintenance activities when required.

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of biomedical and medical diagnostic equipment
  • Technical troubleshooting and repair skills
  • Understanding of electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems
  • Familiarity with healthcare safety and compliance standards
  • Good documentation and reporting skills
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to work independently and within healthcare environments
  • Basic computer and biomedical software knowledge

Qualification Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in:
    • Biomedical Engineering
    • Electronics Engineering
    • Biomedical Equipment Technology
    • Electrical / Instrumentation Engineering
  • Relevant experience in biomedical equipment maintenance preferred.
