Job Title: Automotive Mechanic
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Automotive Mechanic to join our team. In this advanced role, you will take a leadership position in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining complex mechanical and electrical systems in a wide range of vehicles. As a senior mechanic, you will have expertise in troubleshooting and repairing intricate systems, leading repair projects, and mentoring junior and mid-level mechanics. You will ensure that all work is completed to the highest standards of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advanced Diagnostics & Complex Repairs: Lead the diagnosis and repair of advanced and intricate vehicle systems, including engine management, electronic control systems, hybrid and electric powertrains, transmission systems, and complex mechanical systems.
- Leadership & Mentorship: Mentor and train junior and mid-level mechanics, providing guidance on troubleshooting, repair techniques, and efficient work practices. Ensure that all team members are following safety standards and best practices.
- High-Quality Maintenance & Services: Perform detailed and complex vehicle maintenance tasks, including suspension repairs, brake systems, fuel systems, exhaust systems, and other critical vehicle components. Ensure all work meets or exceeds manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
- Project Oversight & Coordination: Manage and oversee larger or more complex repair projects, ensuring that they are completed on time and within budget. Coordinate with service managers or supervisors to prioritize work and allocate resources effectively.
- Customer Interaction & Technical Consultation: Provide expert consultation to customers regarding vehicle repairs, explaining complex issues in simple terms and offering solutions to meet their needs. Provide estimates, timelines, and follow-up on customer concerns to ensure satisfaction.
- Quality Assurance & Testing: Perform thorough post-repair inspections and tests to ensure all systems function properly and meet safety standards. Troubleshoot any issues that arise after repairs and ensure that vehicles are fully operational before returning them to customers.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and the latest repair techniques. Attend ongoing training programs and workshops to expand your knowledge in specialized vehicle systems, such as electric and autonomous vehicles.
- Workshops & Tools Management: Maintain and organize shop equipment, tools, and diagnostic systems. Ensure all tools are in good working order and take the lead in resolving any issues with equipment or machinery.
- Documentation & Reporting: Ensure all service records are complete and accurate, including repair logs, parts used, and customer communications. Help implement systems for improving efficiency in documentation and workflow.
- Safety & Compliance: Lead the effort to maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment. Ensure that all repairs are done in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.

Qualifications and Skills:
- Educational Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an automotive technical training program or apprenticeship is required. Advanced certifications are a plus.
- Experience: 7+ years of experience as an automotive mechanic with a focus on complex diagnostics, repairs, and systems.
- Technical Skills: Advanced knowledge of vehicle systems and components, including both mechanical and electrical systems. Proficiency with advanced diagnostic tools, computers, and repair equipment.
- Leadership & Mentorship: Proven ability to mentor and lead a team of mechanics. Experience managing or coordinating multiple repair projects.
- Customer-Focused Communication: Ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to customers and provide clear, actionable recommendations.
- Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills, capable of solving challenging issues in complex vehicle systems.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail to ensure the accuracy and safety of all repairs and maintenance work.

Certifications (Required or Beneficial):
- ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Master Certification (or relevant specialty certifications).
- Manufacturer-specific certifications (e.g., Ford, Toyota, BMW, etc.).
- Hybrid/Electric vehicle certification.
- Other relevant automotive repair certifications.
