We are seeking a skilled and driven Automation Engineer (Mid-Level) to design, develop, and optimize robotic fabrication cells for advanced manufacturing applications. The ideal candidate will bring a solid foundation in robotic programming, automation systems integration, and process control, with the ability to independently lead sub-projects, troubleshoot complex systems, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
Design and configure robotic fabrication cells for additive manufacturing, subtractive processes, material handling, and inspection.
Integrate industrial robots with auxiliary systems such as end-effectors, turntables, safety devices, and conveyors.
Develop, test, and deploy programs for industrial robots (e.g., KUKA KRL, ABB RAPID, Fanuc TP) for precise and repeatable operations.
Create automation routines that respond dynamically to sensor inputs and process conditions.
Program, troubleshoot, and maintain PLCs (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley) and their communication with robots and HMIs.
Implement real-time feedback and control logic to coordinate multi-component systems.
Monitor system performance metrics and identify opportunities for improving speed, accuracy, and efficiency.
Collaborate on implementing IoT-enabled data collection for predictive maintenance and quality control.
Ensure all robotic systems adhere to relevant safety standards (e.g., ISO 10218, ANSI/RIA).
Maintain up-to-date documentation of cell layouts, wiring diagrams, and programming logic.
Lead or support the development and deployment of robotic fabrication cells across engineering and production teams.
Troubleshoot and resolve system-level issues (mechanical, electrical, or software-related).
Collaborate with design, software, and operations teams to translate digital workflows into physical robotic outputs.
Train junior engineers and technicians on system operation and maintenance procedures.
Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and project planning activities.
Bachelor’s degree in Automation Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
3–5 years of experience in industrial automation or robotic systems integration.
Proficient in programming industrial robots and working with at least one major robot brand (KUKA, ABB, Fanuc, UR).
Experience with PLC programming (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, Allen-Bradley RSLogix) and HMI configuration.
Solid understanding of industrial safety standards and electrical schematics.
Strong analytical thinking, communication, and project management skills.
Experience in digital fabrication, toolpath generation, or parametric design (e.g., Rhino + Grasshopper, Autodesk Fusion 360).
Familiarity with simulation and offline programming tools (e.g., RobotStudio, RoboDK, Process Simulate).
Knowledge of Industry 4.0, edge computing, or machine vision systems.
Exposure to SCADA systems, IoT platforms, or MES integration is a plus.
