Job Title: Assembly Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Fresher Automotive Assembly Engineer to join our assembly team. As a fresher in this role, you will assist in the planning, implementation, and optimization of assembly processes for automotive components and systems. You will work closely with senior engineers to learn about automotive manufacturing and assembly, contributing to the efficient assembly of high-quality automotive products. This role offers a great opportunity for recent graduates to apply their engineering knowledge in a practical setting, learn hands-on manufacturing techniques, and develop the skills needed to support automotive production lines.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assembly Process Support:

    • Assist senior assembly engineers in the planning, setup, and optimization of automotive assembly processes, ensuring the efficient assembly of automotive components.
    • Support the assembly of automotive systems and parts, including mechanical, electrical, and sub-assemblies.
    • Help monitor the assembly line to ensure all operations are running smoothly and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
  2. Tool and Equipment Management:

    • Assist in maintaining, calibrating, and troubleshooting assembly tools and equipment to ensure their proper functioning.
    • Help ensure that all required tools, fixtures, and materials are available and ready for assembly processes.
    • Learn and apply best practices for safe and effective use of assembly equipment.
  3. Quality Control and Inspection:

    • Assist in performing basic quality checks on assembled components to ensure they meet the required standards and specifications.
    • Help identify defects or issues during the assembly process and work with senior engineers to implement corrective actions.
    • Support the documentation and tracking of assembly issues and product quality to ensure adherence to industry standards and customer requirements.
  4. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate and organized records of assembly activities, including production data, inspection results, and issues encountered.
    • Help generate reports and track progress for senior engineers, offering insights into assembly performance and any challenges faced during production.
  5. Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:

    • Work closely with design engineers, production managers, and quality control teams to ensure that assembly processes meet design specifications and quality standards.
    • Assist in communicating assembly issues and concerns to the team, ensuring prompt resolution of any challenges that arise.
  6. Continuous Improvement:

    • Assist in analyzing assembly line performance and identifying areas for improvement, focusing on increasing efficiency and reducing waste.
    • Participate in process improvement initiatives, such as Lean or Six Sigma projects, under the guidance of senior engineers.
    • Learn to apply problem-solving tools and techniques to improve assembly processes and eliminate bottlenecks.
  7. Learning and Development:

    • Participate in on-the-job training and mentorship from senior engineers to develop your technical expertise in automotive assembly processes.
    • Stay up-to-date with industry standards, new technologies, and best practices in automotive assembly.

Key Focus Areas:

Vehicle Dynamics:

  • Assist in analyzing and optimizing vehicle handling, stability, and ride comfort through simulation and testing.

Powertrain Systems:

  • Contribute to the design and testing of powertrain components, including engines, transmissions, and drivetrains.

Structural Engineering:

  • Design and test vehicle structures for safety, performance, and durability under various conditions.

Electronics & Electrical Systems:

  • Support the integration of electronic systems, including vehicle control, infotainment, and electrical power distribution.

Thermal Systems:

  • Assist in the development of thermal management systems, focusing on engine cooling and HVAC systems.

Manufacturing & Assembly:

  • Participate in optimizing manufacturing processes and assembly techniques to improve efficiency and product quality.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Educational Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
    • Recent graduates or individuals with up to 1 year of relevant experience in automotive engineering, manufacturing, or assembly are encouraged to apply.
  2. Technical Skills:

    • Basic understanding of automotive manufacturing processes, including assembly, fabrication, and testing.
    • Familiarity with tools and machinery used in automotive assembly (e.g., torque wrenches, assembly lines, jigs, fixtures).
    • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for documentation and reporting purposes.
    • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) is beneficial but not required.
  3. Soft Skills:

    • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify issues in the assembly process.
    • Good communication skills for reporting findings and collaborating with the assembly team and other departments.
    • Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to learn quickly and adapt to new challenges.
    • Ability to work well in a team environment and independently when necessary.
  4. Certifications (Optional but Beneficial):

    • Any certifications related to automotive manufacturing, Lean manufacturing, or assembly processes are a plus but not required.
    • Certification in the use of assembly tools or quality control practices is beneficial.
