We are looking for a skilled and experienced Senior Apprentice Mechanical Technician / Helper to support and mentor junior technicians while assisting in the maintenance, assembly, and repair of mechanical equipment in industrial environments. This role is ideal for individuals with 3–5 years of hands-on mechanical experience who are ready to take on increased responsibilities while continuing to build technical expertise and leadership skills. The candidate will work closely with senior engineers and supervisors in both workshop and field settings.
Assist in the maintenance and servicing of mechanical systems including pumps, valves, compressors, turbines, and piping assemblies.
Perform mechanical tasks such as tightening, alignment, and minor fitting under minimal supervision.
Support shutdown, turnaround, and commissioning activities as part of the mechanical execution team.
Guide junior helpers and apprentices in the safe handling of tools, parts, and equipment.
Ensure junior staff understand and follow proper procedures, safety protocols, and quality standards.
Provide feedback to supervisors regarding team performance and training needs.
Prepare equipment, materials, and tools in advance for mechanical jobs.
Handle small tool repairs, basic machining support, or valve prep as required.
Assist with hydrotesting, torquing, or gasket installation where trained.
Follow and enforce site safety practices and use of PPE.
Participate in job safety analysis (JSA) and hazard identification.
Maintain logs or checklists for tasks performed and tools used.
Efficient mechanical task support with minimal supervision
Informal mentoring of junior staff and apprentices
Execution of maintenance and installation tasks to industry standards
Commitment to workplace safety and job readiness
ITI/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
Completion of formal apprenticeship or mechanical technician training.
3–5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance or mechanical support roles.
Familiarity with rotating equipment, valves, piping systems, and workshop operations.
Strong hands-on mechanical skills and tool handling
Capable of reading basic mechanical drawings or assembly instructions
Team leadership and communication abilities
Attention to detail and ability to identify mechanical faults or risks
Safety certification (e.g., OSHA, H2S, confined space)
Basic lifting, rigging, or mechanical tool operation credentials
Any valve or rotating equipment OEM training is an advantage
