This role is ideal for candidates nearing completion of their vocational training or diploma, with strong hands-on ability and a solid understanding of mechanical systems, tools, and fabrication processes.
Perform advanced mechanical fabrication operations such as precision cutting, bending, fitting, layout marking, tack welding, and assembly.
Build and fit components based on technical drawings and tolerances with minimal supervision.
Confidently interpret mechanical drawings, welding symbols, and fabrication schematics.
Support the translation of design intent into physical parts and assemblies.
Operate fabrication equipment (press brake, shearing machine, plasma cutter) and measurement tools (micrometer, height gauge, angle gauge) efficiently and safely.
Assist in setting up jigs and fixtures for repeatable fabrication processes.
Perform self-checks for dimensional accuracy and visual inspection of fabricated parts.
Comply with all workshop safety guidelines, including PPE, machine safety, and LOTO procedures.
Contribute to maintaining quality documentation and fabrication records.
Support the mentoring of junior apprentices and interns.
Coordinate with welders, machine operators, and supervisors for seamless production flow.
Participate in cross-functional meetings on fabrication planning and improvements.
Independently handle assigned fabrication and pre-assembly jobs.
Assist in troubleshooting basic fabrication or fit-up issues.
Suggest and implement small process improvements in the workshop.
Keep daily logbooks, track tasks completed, and update training records.
Prepare for transition to full-time technician/fabricator role by demonstrating consistent performance.
Final-year ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Fitting, Fabrication, or Welding.
2–3 years of hands-on experience in a mechanical fabrication environment.
Proficient in reading and interpreting 2D fabrication drawings.
Strong knowledge of workshop equipment and fabrication techniques.
Exposure to MIG/TIG welding, CNC cutting, or robotic fabrication.
Understanding of basic GD&T, material selection, and tolerance stack-up.
Familiarity with 5S, Lean manufacturing, or Kaizen concepts.
