The Junior Air Ducting Assembly Technician supports the fabrication, installation, and inspection of air duct systems used in aircraft Environmental Control Systems (ECS). This entry-level role involves hands-on work with flexible and rigid duct components, brackets, couplings, and insulation materials under the guidance of experienced technicians. The technician helps ensure that all duct assemblies meet design specifications, quality standards, and aerospace safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in assembling, installing, and securing aircraft air ducting components including ducts, connectors, seals, and clamps
Follow work instructions, blueprints, and schematics to ensure proper layout and orientation of duct runs
Support preparation tasks such as cutting, trimming, fitting, and deburring duct segments
Apply adhesives, sealants, and insulation as specified for thermal and acoustic performance
Perform basic measurements and visual checks to verify fit, alignment, and cleanliness
Assist with leak checks, pressure tests, and functional fit tests as needed
Maintain clean and organized work areas in compliance with safety and 5S standards
Report any defects, non-conformities, or tool calibration issues to supervisors or quality teams
Learn and follow documentation practices for assembly records, part traceability, and quality checklists
Support senior technicians in rework, repair, and modification tasks on duct assemblies

Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
High school diploma or GED (required)
Technical or vocational training in aerospace assembly, HVAC systems, or mechanical trades (preferred)
Experience:
0–2 years of experience in aerospace, HVAC, or mechanical assembly (internships or apprenticeships welcome)
Exposure to ducting, tubing, or component installation is a plus
Technical Skills:
Basic knowledge of mechanical assembly tools (drills, riveters, torque wrenches, cutters)
Ability to read simple diagrams, assembly drawings, and measurement tools (ruler, caliper, micrometer)
Familiarity with aerospace materials and fasteners (optional but beneficial)
Soft Skills:
Good manual dexterity, attention to detail, and willingness to learn
Ability to follow instructions and work safely in a fast-paced environment
