Roles & Responsibilities

The Junior Aerothermal Engineer will support the analysis and design of turbine flow and combustion systems, focusing on thermal and fluid dynamic performance to optimize efficiency, emissions, and durability of turbine engines. This role is ideal for early-career engineers passionate about aerodynamics, heat transfer, and combustion processes within turbomachinery.

Key Focus Areas:

    • Flow Analysis:
      Assist in the simulation and evaluation of aerodynamic flow patterns in turbine stages to improve efficiency and stability.

    • Combustion Performance:
      Support the analysis of combustion characteristics including flame stability, emissions, and fuel-air mixing.

    • Thermal Management:
      Participate in heat transfer studies and cooling system evaluations to protect turbine components from thermal stresses.

    • CFD & Simulation Support:
      Utilize CFD tools and thermal simulation software to model flow and combustion phenomena under guidance.

    • Data Analysis & Reporting:
      Analyze simulation and test data, prepare technical reports, and present findings to the team.

    • Collaboration & Learning:
      Work closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to develop technical skills and contribute to projects.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Execute CFD simulations for turbine flow and combustion under supervision.

    • Assist in setting up boundary conditions, meshing, and post-processing of results.

    • Support validation of simulation results with experimental or operational data.

    • Contribute to documentation of analysis methods, results, and design recommendations.

    • Participate in design reviews and team meetings.

    • Keep up to date with industry best practices and emerging technologies in aerothermal engineering.

Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

    • 0-2 years of experience or internship in turbomachinery, aerodynamics, or combustion analysis.

    • Basic knowledge of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and combustion principles.

    • Familiarity with CFD software such as ANSYS Fluent, CFX, Star-CCM+, or similar tools is a plus.

    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

    • Willingness to learn, take initiative, and work collaboratively.

Preferred Skills:

    • Experience with programming or scripting (Python, MATLAB, etc.).

    • Understanding of turbine engine components and operation.

    • Exposure to experimental testing or data acquisition methods.
