Job Title: Aerospace Automation Engineer
Job Summary:
The Junior Aerospace Automation Engineer is responsible for assisting in the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of automation systems used in aerospace manufacturing, assembly, and testing. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with automation technologies, robotics, control systems, and data analysis. The Junior Engineer will work closely with senior engineers and other team members to ensure that automation systems function efficiently, meet operational goals, and adhere to aerospace industry standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
System Design and Development:
- Assist in the design and development of automation systems, including robotics, PLC systems, and SCADA systems, used in aerospace manufacturing and testing.
- Support senior engineers in developing automation solutions to improve efficiency, precision, and safety in aerospace operations.
- Help implement control logic for automation systems and assist in the selection of components and systems for integration into aerospace platforms.
System Integration and Testing:
- Assist in the integration of automation systems with existing aerospace systems to ensure compatibility and smooth operation.
- Help with the setup and execution of tests to validate automation systems and ensure they meet performance specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Support troubleshooting efforts during system integration and testing, identifying issues and providing recommendations for resolution.
Maintenance and Optimization:
- Perform routine maintenance on automation systems, including troubleshooting and repairing automation hardware and software components.
- Support system optimization by analyzing data, identifying performance issues, and assisting with improvements to enhance system reliability and efficiency.
- Help implement upgrades and modifications to existing automation systems based on feedback from testing or operational use.
Control System Programming:
- Assist in the programming and configuration of control systems, including PLCs, SCADA systems, and other control software used in aerospace automation applications.
- Learn to write and modify control logic for automation systems, ensuring smooth operation in aerospace manufacturing and testing processes.
- Test and validate control system programming to ensure proper functionality and minimal downtime during system operation.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of system configurations, testing procedures, maintenance activities, and performance data.
- Assist in preparing technical reports and documentation on system performance, maintenance, and any issues encountered during testing or operational use.
- Ensure all documentation is compliant with regulatory standards (e.g., FAA, EASA) and company procedures.
Learning and Development:
- Continuously develop knowledge and skills related to aerospace automation technologies, control systems, and programming techniques.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends in automation to ensure systems are designed using the latest tools and methodologies.
- Participate in training and development programs to enhance technical expertise and problem-solving capabilities.
Collaboration and Support:
- Work closely with senior engineers, technicians, and other team members to ensure that automation systems are integrated effectively into aerospace platforms.
- Participate in team meetings to discuss project progress, identify potential issues, and ensure the completion of tasks according to project timelines.
- Support team members by providing assistance with troubleshooting, testing, and system optimization.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
- Basic understanding of automation systems, including robotics, PLCs, SCADA, and control systems.
- Familiarity with programming languages used for control systems (e.g., ladder logic, Python, C++).
- Knowledge of aerospace systems and processes used in manufacturing, testing, or production.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues with automation systems.
- Basic knowledge of industrial control systems and their applications in aerospace.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate with engineers, technicians, and other stakeholders.
- Good communication skills to document and report technical findings effectively.
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
- Coursework or certifications related to automation systems, control systems, or robotics are a plus.
- Knowledge of PLC programming or SCADA systems is an advantage.
Experience:
- 1-2 years of professional experience in aerospace systems, automation, or related fields.
- Experience with automation tools, control systems, or robotics through internships, academic projects, or practical training is beneficial.

- Precision Instrumentation for Navigation, Communications, and Control: Assisting in the calibration, setup, and maintenance of automation systems used for precision navigation, communication, and control instrumentation, ensuring consistent system performance.
- Automation System Troubleshooting and Support: Helping with troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving issues in automation systems, working closely with senior engineers to ensure smooth functionality across all systems.
- Documentation and Reporting: Contributing to the documentation of automation processes, tests, and results, ensuring clear communication and compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
Tools and Technologies:
- Familiarity with PLC programming software (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000) and SCADA systems.
- Exposure to simulation and testing software (e.g., MATLAB, LabVIEW, Simulink) is a plus.
- Knowledge of data analysis tools and performance monitoring software.
- Basic experience with industrial automation equipment and tools used in aerospace manufacturing.
