AHU Technician – Cleanrooms and Process Zones

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented AHU Technician with mid-level experience to maintain and troubleshoot Air Handling Units (AHUs) and HVAC systems that support cleanrooms and controlled process zones. The technician will ensure environmental compliance for temperature, humidity, filtration, and pressure as per GMP, ISO 14644, or HACCP standards. This role demands both technical expertise and familiarity with cleanroom protocols in regulated manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities:

1. AHU Operation & Monitoring

• Operate, monitor, and maintain AHUs, exhaust fans, ductwork, and associated HVAC components.

• Ensure proper functioning of air filtration (Pre/HEPA), airflow distribution, and pressure gradients across classified zones.

• Adjust setpoints for temperature, humidity, and airflow through BMS or local control panels.

2. Preventive & Corrective Maintenance

• Perform scheduled maintenance including filter changes, belt and bearing inspections, coil cleaning, and lubrication.

• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and perform minor repairs independently.

• Ensure minimal downtime by proactively identifying issues and escalating major faults.

3. Cleanroom Environment Compliance

• Maintain air cleanliness (ISO 7/8 or Grade C/D) by managing airflow, pressure differentials, and HEPA filter integrity.

• Support environmental qualification activities like air velocity testing, particle count, and pressure mapping.

• Assist QA/Validation teams during audits and environmental monitoring.

4. Documentation & CMMS Reporting

• Maintain accurate and timely records of maintenance activities, filter change logs, deviation reports, and daily operational checklists.

• Update work orders and PM schedules in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

• Ensure all documentation is audit-ready and compliant with regulatory requirements.

5. Safety, Hygiene & Protocol Compliance

• Follow cleanroom gowning and hygiene procedures during maintenance in classified zones.

• Comply with safety regulations (LOTO, confined space, electrical safety) while performing tasks.

• Participate in toolbox talks and contribute to safety incident reporting.

Qualifications:

• ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, HVAC, or Refrigeration Engineering.

• 3–6 years of experience in AHU/HVAC maintenance, preferably in pharma, food, biotech, or cleanroom environments.

• Familiarity with BMS operation, air balancing tools, and cleanroom monitoring practices.

Preferred Skills:

• Understanding of ISO 14644 classifications and cleanroom zoning

• Basic knowledge of airflow testing, filter integrity testing, and particle monitoring

• Experience working in GMP-regulated or ISO-certified facilities

• Working knowledge of CMMS and maintenance documentation standards
