The Mid-Level Shop Supervisor – Custom Process Equipment manages daily operations within the fabrication shop dedicated to custom process equipment for food and beverage manufacturing. This role leads a team of fabricators and assemblers, ensuring production schedules are met with high quality and safety standards. The supervisor coordinates workflow, enforces compliance with food-grade fabrication protocols, and collaborates with engineering and quality teams to support continuous improvement initiatives.
Supervise fabrication, assembly, and testing activities for custom process equipment in compliance with food-grade standards.
Plan and assign work to shop personnel, ensuring efficient use of resources and timely project completion.
Monitor quality control processes to ensure equipment meets design specifications and regulatory requirements.
Enforce strict adherence to safety policies and promote a culture of workplace safety.
Provide training, coaching, and development opportunities for shop staff to enhance skills and productivity.
Maintain shop organization, cleanliness, and equipment maintenance schedules.
Collaborate with engineering, quality assurance, and production teams to resolve fabrication issues and implement process improvements.
Prepare reports on shop performance, production status, and safety metrics for management review.
High school diploma or equivalent required
Technical certification or vocational training in fabrication, mechanical trades, or related field preferred
4–6 years experience in fabrication and assembly, preferably with custom process equipment or food-grade manufacturing
At least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role
Strong knowledge of fabrication techniques, food-grade standards, and quality assurance
Proven leadership and team management skills
Solid understanding of workplace safety and regulatory compliance
Effective communication, problem-solving, and organizational abilities
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
