Job Summary

The Senior Satellite Communications Expert leads the design, implementation, and troubleshooting of complex satellite communication systems. This role is critical for overseeing the successful operation of satellite communication networks, ensuring the integration of new technologies, and optimizing system performance for high-stakes telecommunications applications. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of satellite communication technologies and a proven track record in managing large-scale projects, while also demonstrating strong leadership capabilities to mentor and guide a team of engineers.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of large-scale satellite communication systems, including multi-band and multi-beam satellite networks.
• Oversee the optimization and monitoring of satellite networks to ensure high reliability, performance, and security.
• Provide expert troubleshooting and diagnostic support for complex satellite system issues across multiple layers, from the satellite link to network equipment.
• Develop detailed satellite network performance metrics and create strategies to enhance service delivery, throughput, and reliability.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, guiding them in satellite network management, optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Evaluate new satellite technologies, including new frequency bands, satellite constellations, and ground station equipment, to incorporate into the company’s satellite infrastructure.
• Collaborate with vendors, customers, and internal teams to implement innovative solutions for satellite network deployments.
• Maintain satellite communication security standards, ensuring compliance with industry and regulatory requirements.

Skills and Knowledge Required

• Expert knowledge of satellite communication systems, RF principles, and satellite network architecture.
• Strong experience with satellite frequency planning, link budget analysis, and performance optimization.
• In-depth knowledge of satellite networking technologies (e.g., VSAT, Ka-band, LEO, MEO, and GEO satellites).
• Extensive hands-on experience with satellite systems, including advanced troubleshooting and optimization of satellite communications.
• Proficiency with satellite network management tools and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP over satellite, VSAT configuration, IP QoS).
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to guide teams in problem-solving and system management.
• Knowledge of satellite communication security measures, including encryption, secure channels, and VPN.
• Ability to manage large, complex satellite communications projects and coordinate cross-functional teams.

Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Telecommunications, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
• Advanced certifications such as SATCOM, CCIE, or vendor-specific certifications (e.g., Hughes, iDirect) are highly valued.
