Roles & Responsibilities

The Junior Production Supervisor – Valve Machining is responsible for overseeing daily operations of valve machining activities, ensuring production targets are met with high quality and safety standards. This role supports the efficient management of manpower, machinery, and materials to optimize machining processes in a manufacturing environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise day-to-day operations of valve machining processes (lathe, milling, drilling, boring, CNC, etc.).

  • Monitor production schedules and ensure timely completion of machining tasks.

  • Allocate manpower and assign jobs to machine operators based on skill and production priority.

  • Ensure adherence to quality standards by performing routine checks and coordinating with the Quality Control team.

  • Maintain production records, machine logs, and daily shift reports.

  • Support maintenance teams in minimizing downtime and ensuring preventive maintenance schedules are followed.

  • Train and guide machine operators and junior technicians on standard operating procedures (SOPs).

  • Enforce health, safety, and housekeeping standards on the shop floor.

  • Identify and escalate any production or process-related issues to the senior supervisor/manager.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for machining efficiency, tool usage, and cycle time reduction.


Key Focus Areas:

  1. Valve Machining Expertise:

    • Understanding of machining processes for industrial valves (e.g., gate, globe, ball, butterfly, check valves).

    • Familiarity with materials such as cast iron, stainless steel, alloy steel used in valve manufacturing.

  2. CNC and Manual Machine Handling:

    • Working knowledge of CNC and conventional machines used in valve part machining (body, bonnet, stem, disc, etc.).

    • Ability to interpret technical drawings and machining symbols.

  3. Production Monitoring & Optimization:

    • Track production KPIs such as output, rejection rates, and machine utilization.

    • Support process improvements to reduce cycle times and scrap.

  4. Workforce Supervision:

    • Supervise 5–15 operators/technicians depending on shift and workload.

    • Foster a positive team environment and ensure task discipline.

  5. Quality & Safety Compliance:

    • Strictly adhere to and enforce safety protocols and product quality standards as per ISO or ASME norms.


Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Production Engineering.

  • 1–3 years of experience in valve machining or precision component manufacturing.

  • Basic understanding of machining tolerances, surface finish, and process capability.

  • Proficient in reading mechanical drawings and using measuring instruments (Vernier, micrometer, etc.).

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
