The Mid-Level Marine HVAC/Valve Integration Specialist is responsible for overseeing the mechanical installation, alignment, and system integration of HVAC equipment and valve systems within shipboard or offshore mechanical environments. This role involves technical oversight of fit-up, connections, testing, and documentation activities to ensure proper operation and compliance with marine regulatory standards. The specialist collaborates with engineering, commissioning, and trades personnel to meet integration goals on schedule and within specifications.
Supervise and perform mechanical integration of marine HVAC systems including air handlers, ductwork, chillers, dampers, and ventilation controls.
Lead or support valve installations within fluid handling systems, including isolation, control, check, and safety relief valves.
Interpret P&IDs, HVAC layouts, and mechanical assembly drawings to guide installation efforts.
Perform fit-up inspections, flange alignments, gasket placement, and bolting torque checks.
Support hydrostatic, pressure, flow, and functional testing of mechanical systems.
Coordinate HVAC and valve system integration across ship compartments and decks, ensuring spatial, thermal, and structural constraints are met.
Work closely with pipefitters, electricians, welders, and insulation crews to synchronize mechanical installations.
Identify and resolve integration issues on-site in coordination with engineers and quality personnel.
Maintain records for inspections, test results, installation logs, and redline changes to documentation.
Ensure compliance with classification society standards (ABS, USCG, DNV, etc.) and shipyard safety practices.
HVAC Equipment Integration: Ensure marine HVAC units are properly mounted, aligned, and connected to duct and piping systems.
Valve & Piping Systems: Oversee installation and sealing of valves in accordance with system specifications and pressure ratings.
Mechanical Testing & Validation: Participate in verification activities to support commissioning and final turnover.
Regulatory & Spatial Compliance: Ensure systems meet USCG, ABS, and shipboard layout requirements.
Associate degree or technical diploma in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Systems, HVAC Technology, or related discipline.
3–6 years of experience in marine or industrial HVAC/valve integration, preferably in a shipyard or offshore facility.
Proficient in interpreting mechanical and HVAC schematics, isometrics, and P&IDs.
Working knowledge of HVAC system operation and valve functions within fluid systems.
Familiar with mechanical installation codes (ASME, ABS, USCG) and pressure system safety.
Experience supporting system testing (e.g., hydrostatic, leak, flow, or functional).
Certification in HVAC installation, mechanical fitting, or marine systems preferred
Familiarity with CMMS, digital work orders, or 3D model viewers (e.g., Navisworks, AutoCAD Plant 3D)
Strong communication and coordination skills in a multi-trade environment
Able to work on vessels or offshore units, including confined spaces and elevated areas
OSHA 10/30-hour Maritime Safety card or equivalent is a plus
