Engine Test Technician – Turbine Performance Validation

Roles & Responsibilities

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Engine Test Technician to join our Turbine Performance Validation team. In this role, you will support engine testing activities focused on the validation of gas turbine performance and durability. You will assist in the setup, operation, and maintenance of turbine engine test rigs and ensure accurate data collection and compliance with test procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Assist in the preparation, installation, and instrumentation of turbine engines for testing.

    • Support the operation of gas turbine test cells under the guidance of senior engineers.

    • Monitor engine performance and collect data using test control systems and sensors.

    • Perform pre-test and post-test inspections of components and systems.

    • Maintain and calibrate test equipment and instrumentation.

    • Follow strict safety protocols and quality standards in a high-pressure environment.

    • Troubleshoot and resolve minor mechanical and electrical issues during test operations.

    • Work closely with engineering teams to implement test plans and report deviations or anomalies.

    • Contribute to the continuous improvement of test procedures and facility readiness.

    • Document test activities, results, and issues accurately and promptly.

Key Focus Areas:

  1. Turbine Engine Testing:
    Support hands-on testing of gas turbines, including setup, test execution, and basic data validation.

  2. Instrumentation and Data Acquisition:
    Basic installation and maintenance of sensors, wiring, and data systems used in performance validation.

  3. Mechanical Aptitude:
    Assist in mechanical assembly/disassembly of engines and subsystems, following technical drawings and procedures.

  4. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE):
    Adhere to safety procedures and proactively identify and mitigate potential hazards.

  5. Communication & Reporting:
    Provide clear updates to supervisors, and document technical observations and anomalies.

Qualifications & Skills:

    • Diploma or Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.

    • 0–2 years of experience in an engineering test environment (internships or co-op roles acceptable).

    • Basic knowledge of gas turbines or internal combustion engines.

    • Familiarity with test equipment, sensors, and control systems is a plus.

    • Strong attention to detail and good manual dexterity.

    • Willingness to work in a shift-based or flexible schedule environment, including weekends if required.

    • Team player with good communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with turbine engine testing (academic, industrial, or military).

    • Understanding of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics.

    • Basic skills in data acquisition software (e.g., LabVIEW, NI DAQ, or similar).

    • Exposure to test standards such as ASME, ISO, or OEM-specific guidelines.
