We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Aerospace Welder with deep expertise in TIG welding of pressure vessels, valves, and critical aerospace components. The ideal candidate will demonstrate advanced welding proficiency, a strong understanding of aerospace materials and standards, and the ability to lead, train, and mentor junior welders. This position plays a critical role in delivering high-integrity, leak-proof welds on components subjected to extreme pressure and performance requirements.
Independently perform complex, high-precision TIG (GTAW) welding on pressure vessels, valves, and structural aerospace components.
Read, interpret, and apply engineering drawings, WPSs, PQRs, and welding symbols accurately.
Ensure welds meet or exceed standards such as AWS D17.1, ASME Section IX, NADCAP, and AS9100.
Conduct and support inspections including visual, dye penetrant, and X-ray/NDT; identify and correct defects.
Lead weld process improvements, develop best practices, and suggest tooling or fixture enhancements.
Serve as a mentor and technical resource for junior and mid-level welders; assist in training and certifying team members.
Maintain and audit weld documentation and traceability records.
Collaborate with engineering, quality assurance, and production teams to resolve issues and improve manufacturing outcomes.
Ensure full compliance with safety regulations, FOD control, and cleanroom or high-purity welding environments.
Advanced TIG Welding Mastery: Expert in welding thin-wall and high-pressure aerospace components with zero-defect standards.
Pressure Vessel & Valve Welding Expertise: Proven track record in fabricating components that require absolute leak-tight integrity.
Aerospace Compliance & Certification: Deep understanding of AWS D17.1, ASME, and NADCAP requirements; may assist in audit preparation and customer inspections.
High-Performance Alloy Handling: Extensive experience welding titanium, Inconel, stainless steel, Hastelloy, and aluminum.
Weld Quality Leadership: Skilled in interpreting NDT results, troubleshooting weld failures, and supporting quality teams.
Process Optimization: Ability to identify and implement improvements in welding parameters, gas coverage, heat control, and fixture use.
Mentorship & Leadership: Capable of guiding and certifying welders, and establishing high standards across the welding team.
Vocational/technical diploma or certification in welding; additional aerospace or metallurgical training preferred.
7+ years of TIG welding experience, with at least 3 years in aerospace or pressure vessel environments.
Certified to AWS D17.1, ASME Section IX, or equivalent.
Strong understanding of blueprint reading, weld symbols, and aerospace fabrication techniques.
Familiarity with cleanroom welding, purge welding, and inert gas shielding techniques.
Leadership presence and ability to train others.
Meticulous attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship.
Strong communication and documentation skills.
Problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
High level of accountability, independence, and reliability.
